Following the success of the third Algonquin Outfitters Paddle Art Charity Auction in 2021 we are thrilled to continue the tradition!
This time we have extended the submission date to FRIDAY OCTOBER 13TH to welcome local artists to participate during the post-summer market season when they are more available.
The online auction will run into from October 23RD to November 12th to promote paddle creations as unique holiday gift ideas. This year we will also have (7) Group of Seven and (7) Tom Thomson painted canoes produced by local artists via Huntsville’s Festival of the Arts Rivermill Park event, giving people a chance to bid on them.
Algonquin Outfitters is challenging local businesses to step up and get involved by bidding and proudly displaying canoe/s in their reception areas, offices, board rooms, client spaces, or building entranceways. Businesses who bid and win the canoes will be identified and celebrated on Algonquin Outfitters’ social media channels and website as fundraising leaders of our community supporting art, culture, and local history.
Algonquin Outfitters is thrilled with the creativity of past and recent paddle submissions as well as the incredible support of the community who bid in the auctions.
The contest is open to anyone with a creative idea for a paddle―you don’t need to be an artist to participate. 2021’s entries included paddles painted with scenes from nature, people, and geometric designs, carved paddles, stained glass, sculpted paddles, wood burned and even a paddle-turned-electric guitar.
“Anything goes, as long as it starts with a paddle. Our goal is to promote our passion for paddling, creativity and community by combining all three into another fun event to raise funds for groups running arts & cultural programs in our region,” says Marketing Manager Brent Ellerson
