The Muskoka Bears Junior C Hockey Club split a weekend set, opening with a strong home win before falling in a tight matchup against the Penetang Kings.
Friday night in Bracebridge, Bears goaltender Joseph Degan delivered an outstanding performance, stopping 42 shots to earn his first regular-season victory with the club as Muskoka defeated Innisfil 4–2. The Bracebridge native was a key factor throughout the game, particularly during sustained pressure from Innisfil late in the contest.
Offensively, newcomer Emmitt Robilliard made an immediate impact, recording two points and earning player-of-the-game honours. The Bears capitalized on their chances and held firm defensively to secure the win in front of the home crowd at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.
The Bears returned to the ice Saturday night for a rematch with the Penetang Kings in a fast-paced, back-and-forth affair, but ultimately fell 6–4. Muskoka received goals from Muszynski, Robilliard, Litt, and Demeules, who scored his team-leading 12th of the season. Despite keeping pace through much of the game, the Bears were unable to overcome Penetang’s late push.
Muskoka will look to rebound quickly, hosting the Penetang Kings once again on Sunday, Dec. 21, with puck drop scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.
