Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vessel boating collision on July 14th, 2021 at 7:40 p.m. on Lake Rosseau near Windermere Marina after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls from members of the public. Witnesses described seeing several people in the water after the collision.
Officers, along with Muskoka EMS, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, the OPP Marine Unit, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the OPP Aviation Unit responded. Six occupants are believed to have been involved between the two vessels. Four people were rescued from the water and rushed to hospital with serious injuries, one of whom has been airlifted to a Toronto area hospital. One person has been confirmed deceased at the scene and one remains unaccounted for.
Search efforts continued well into the evening hours and will resume in the morning.
The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available.
