Two young archers from Bracebridge recently put themselves to the test against Ontario’s best and proved they were more than up to the task.
Last week, Tessa Brookes, 18, and Sophia Northey, 14, competed in the Ontario Summer Games, which were held in Mississauga and featured more than 3,500 of the top athletes in the province. The young ladies represented Bracebridge well, as Brookes earned a bronze medal and Northey finished fourth.
Both archers are members of Archers in Muskoka (AIM) and were accompanied by Gord Shields from Archery Ontario.
Brookes began shooting roughly five years ago and competed in the last Ontario Summer Games.
This was Northey’s first time competing at the Summer Games. Her first competition was in May where she qualified.
Due to COVID rescheduling, the Nationals were held the same week.
