The Bracebridge Fire Department is adding some extra excitement to Halloween night this year. Beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 31, members of the Bracebridge Fire Department will be driving fire trucks through the urban area of Bracebridge to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters along their route.
Families are encouraged to listen for the sirens and watch for the flashing lights as the trucks make their way through local neighbourhoods. Firefighters will be handing out treats and spreading Halloween cheer while reminding everyone to celebrate safely. The Halloween candy is generously provided by Stevens’ Your Independent Grocer.
As you prepare for Halloween, make sure to follow these safety tips:
- Wear bright colours or reflective costumes to stay visible in the dark;
- Use battery-powered candles in pumpkins instead of open flames;
- Stay on sidewalks and watch for vehicles when crossing streets;
- Plan your trick-or-treating route ahead of time; and
- Only visit homes that have porch lights on.
Motorists are reminded to drive slowly and be cautious on Halloween.
