Bracebridge Library names new Chief Librarian

The Town of Bracebridge, on behalf of the Bracebridge Public Library Board, announced the appointment of Crystal Bergstrome as Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Chief Librarian for the Bracebridge Public Library effective July 12, 2021.  Bergstrome will be assuming the role of CEO/Chief Librarian from Cathryn Rodney, who is retiring from the Town.

The Public Library CEO/Chief Librarian is responsible for leadership and general management of the Library, acting as key advisor and liaison to the Library Board. The CEO/Chief Librarian’s key responsibilities include overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day administration of the Library; attending Library Board/Committee/Staff meetings; advising on policy, service level, and long-range strategic planning; implementing Library Board decisions; ensuring up-to-date technology for staff/library users; and personnel management of all Library staff. Oversees and monitors legislative compliance and sound fiscal management of the Library. Represents the Library with external organizations and within the general community, and on behalf of the Library Board as required; fosters an environment of positive public relations such that the public respects and has confidence in the administration of the business of the Library within the Corporation of the Town of Bracebridge; promotes the programs/policies of the Library.

As a member of the Town’s Senior Management Team, the Library CEO/Chief Librarian will help to guide the efficient and effective operation of the Corporation; promote a positive employee and labour relations environment; and will work with all Town staff to help achieve the Vision, Mission and Civic Priorities set out in the Town’s 2018-2028 Community-Based Strategic Plan.
