Bracebridge OPP charge two boaters with impaired

On July 3rd, 2021, officers with the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police Marine Unit were involved in two separate impaired operation investigations on waterways in the Muskoka area.

While engaged in patrol on Kahshe Lake in the Town of Gravenhurst, officers conducted a vessel stop and suspected the operator to have consumed alcohol. As a result of the investigation 38 year old Jason SCHLIWA of Gravenhurst was charged with Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Officers further conducted a separate vessel stop on Mirror Lake near the Indian River in the Township of Muskoka Lakes where the operator was also suspected to have consumed alcohol. As a result of the investigation 24 year old Riley LARMAN of Etobicoke was charged with Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Both men were released from custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on a later date.
