Bracebridge to provide free menstrual products in municipal facilities

During the latest Bracebridge general committee meeting, it was agreed that the Town should begin providing free menstrual products in municipal facilities.

The discussion was brought forward by Mayor Rick Maloney, who said the move should be made in the spirit of “equity and inclusion.”

The motion directing staff to install dispensers in washrooms in municipal facilities, was seconded by Coun. Barb McMurray. She said she supported the motion “wholeheartedly,” and said there is a definite need in the community for such a service.

CAO Stephen Rettie said staff haven’t completely evaluated the rollout of the project but they’ll look at locations that are feasible and begin rolling it out shortly.
