Bracebridge honours best and brightest with Community Awards

On Saturday, November 9, the Town of Bracebridge recognized and celebrated community members for their contributions at the Community Recognition Awards in the Muskoka Leon’s Auditorium at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre. The program recognizes residents for their valuable contributions to the community in two categories: Community Service Awards and Community Sport Awards.

Community Service Awards 

  • Pat Best, Bracebridge Seniors Achievement Award
  • Evelyn Finlayson-Kelly, Bracebridge Community Arts and Culture Award
  • Shawn Forth, Bracebridge Good Citizenship Award
  • Shirley Gates, Bracebridge Senior of the Year Award
  • Paul Hammond, Award of Merit
  • Cathy Janke, Bracebridge Volunteer Service Award
  • Zoe Janke, Bracebridge Young Volunteer Award
  • Peggy Anne McLeod, Bracebridge Volunteer Service Award
  • Nancy Thompson, Bracebridge Community Heritage Award
  • Kalleen Turchet, Bracebridge Volunteer Service Award
  • Marg Young, Christopher Todd Lang Accessibility Award
  • OPP Auxiliary Bracebridge, Outstanding Volunteer Achievement Award
  • Muskoka Pioneer Power and Bracebridge Agricultural Society, Mayor’s Award of Excellence

Community Sports Awards

  • Mel Dart and Alison Parsons, Bracebridge Community Coach of the Year Award
  • Mary Jibb, Jim Quigley Memorial Athlete of the Year Award
  • Muskoka Aquatic Club, Norm Harkness Memorial Team of the Year Award

Baseball Wall of Fame 

  • Mike and Brandy Fry, Builders

This year saw the return of the program since it was paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nominations were made by friends, family, colleagues etc. or by self-nomination to recognize achievements that have taken place since 2020.
