A police investigation into a break and enter led to charges of impaired driving, a Bracebridge court heard recently.
Brittany Gemmill, 30 of Bracebridge, pleaded guilty in a Bracebridge court recently to refusing to provide a breath sample during an incident involving the Bracebridge OPP.
According to court documents, police were dispatched to a breaking and entering report at Gemmill’s home around 1:20 PM on Jan, 11, 2025, though she was not present at the time. Upon her return, officers detected the smell of alcohol on her breath. Court heard Gemmill attempted to walk away from the police and subsequently refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Further investigations revealed that she had a prior record for exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit. Additionally, open alcohol containers were discovered in her vehicle.
As a result, Gemmill was fined $3,000 and received a 12-month driving ban.
