Community members, volunteers, and service providers are encouraged to broaden their understanding of poverty at YWCA Muskoka’s Bridges Out of Poverty full-day workshop on Friday, November 8.
“Bridges Out of Poverty offers a different perspective on how we live and work in society and community,” said Jenny Sifft, YWCA Muskoka Circles Coordinator. “Participants will examine the impact and causes of poverty on families, explore the hidden rules and unconscious bias of economic class, and develop new tools to better address individuals’ needs.”
Sifft said the workshop is particularly beneficial for those working in social services, education, government, and for local volunteers who work with Muskoka community members.
The Bridges out of Poverty interactive workshop will be facilitated by local trainer Kelly Jones, and held on Friday, November 8 from 9:00am-4:00pm at the Salvation Army Bracebridge Community Church. The cost is $45 to attend which will include a light lunch and workbook.
