Calling all artists: Nuit Blanche North returns!

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is thrilled to invite artist proposals for the 11th edition of Nuit Blanche North to be held on July 22, 2023.

Recognized as a signature Huntsville event, Nuit Blanche North (NbN) is a bold interactive multi-arts street festival taking place in Downtown Huntsville, Ontario. For one night only from 8 pm to 2 am, the streets of downtown Huntsville will come alive with an exciting program of contemporary artistic activities, events, and exhibits taking place in unconventional places in and around the downtown core.

The deadline for artist proposals is March 31st at 5 pm. Projects should encourage audiences to explore, discover, debate, and participate in contemporary art and the public spaces that surround them. This year’s theme is “AND THAT’S WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGED”. There is so much that is changing in the world around us and in our own personal lives. While change is an essential part of existence, the current forces and events in our world seem to be increasing the speed of these changes. We invite projects that respond to the notion of change: the forces that spur these changes, the opportunities that present themselves, and how we can individually and collectively encounter these changes. We are particularly interested in projects that involve the participation of community members or visitors to the event. Priority will be given to those projects which explore this theme in relation to the Muskoka/Parry Sound region.

Any venue in the downtown core is possible, and local businesses and cultural and religious institutions are encouraged to join in by opening their doors and offering free access to contemporary art.  Applications can be downloaded at www.nuitblanchenorth.com. Anyone interested in learning more can contact Hannah Naiman, Director of Programs, Education and Outreach at the Huntsville Festival of the Arts at 705-788-2787 or e-mail [email protected]

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that works to strengthen the community and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors to the Huntsville area, by providing high-quality entertainment, arts education, and cultural enrichment.
