Two suspects are in custody after a multi-jurisdictional police chase involving what a source says started with a stolen grey Mercedes Benz from a local dealership in Huntsville.
The individuals arrived in what was allegedly a white stolen Mercedes Benz and attempted to steal a second Mercedes from the Huntsville dealership. They sped south on Hwy. 11 in the two Mercedes. Police were alerted to the situation. Motorists also began calling the vehicles into police as they were travelling at an extremely high rate of speed.
Hwy. 11 was closed yesterday afternoon as police tried to apprehend the two individuals. One of the vehicles was involved in a collision, according to eyewitness reports. At least one of the suspects fled into the woods.
Orillia OPP assisted Bracebridge OPP with the investigation. A spike belt was deployed and eventually, the suspects were arrested with the assistance of the Central Region Emergency Response Team, CFOPP, and the Northwest Region K9 unit.
A police report on the incident has yet to be issued.
