From Community Living South Muskoka:
What is Giving Tuesday Canada? A global campaign that began in 2012 as an opportunity to harness the power of Social Media and technology to promote charitable giving.
We will be sharing three stories leading up to November 28 to demonstrate how your Giving Tuesday gift will directly benefit the people and families we support with holiday meals to ensure they can continue to live their lives with dignity.
Stay tuned for our stories, a demonstration of your hard earned dollars making a difference this year to people in the holiday season.
Joe’s Story
Joe has been supported by Community Living South Muskoka since he was a child in both our Family Support program and Children & Youth Services program. A legend in his own right, known for his great sense of humour and passion for wrestling – Joe is a recognizable face in Bracebridge.
Joe is a great story teller and an entertainer at heart, any person who has met Joe knows that just a short time spent together talking about wrestling and fishing, will leave you both laughing!
Many people in our community understand his passion for wrestling. He is the proud owner of an amazing collection of belts, and has even had support from in the community, who gifted him a very special belt during the tough times of COVID.
Recently, Joe found a kindred spirit with a similar passion for wrestling. In October, we captured the moment when Joe gifted one of his wrestling belts to a pretty amazing little boy named Ethan.
Joe shared that the reason he gave his belt away was because, “I have to give him something because I like giving back”.
Joe has grown into an adult with a fantastic work ethic, he works hard as a dishwasher at the Boston Pizza in Bracebridge where he’s earned the nickname, “Dish King”, operating the big industrial dishwasher and putting the dishes away once they’re clean.
Joe receives support through Community Living South Muskoka to help ensure he is an active and engaged member of the Bracebridge community. We are so proud of all he has accomplished and want to thank all of our donors for providing funding for us to help Joe and others like him be fully included in their community.
