Concerned caller gets impaired driver off Hwy 11

A Hwy 11 driver was pulled off the road after keen-eyed motorists suspected he was impaired.

Cory Patterson, 48, of Whitby pled guilty to impaired driving earlier this month in a Bracebridge courtroom.

Court heard that on Aug 24, 2024 at 7:36 pm the Bracebridge OPP received a complaint regarding a potentially impaired driver on Hwy 11 northbound in Gravenhurst.

The suspect, later identified as Patterson, pulled into a gas station on the highway, where police caught up with him. In speaking with the driver, officers noticed a mickey of fireball whiskey in the centre console.

He ultimately blew readings of 200 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, more than double the limit.

Court heard that Patterson has multiple previous convictions for similar offences.

He was fined $3,000 and will be banned from driving for the next three years.
