Bracebridge councillors will take a closer look at a zoning application this week that could pave the way for four new buildings on Douglas Drive housing some 28 single-storey row dwelling units.
On Wednesday evening the Bracebridge planning and development committee will consider an application from Castle Peak (Phase 2) Fieldgate Living Inc. for a zoning amendment for 64 Douglas Drive.
The new development is proposed to be rental units serviced by an internal shared driveway with access points from both Douglas Drive and Clearbrook Trail.
On July 7, 2021, council rezoned the property to facilitate a vacant lot condo development proposed by the previous owners of the site for 22 detached dwelling units. The property was sold in 2022 and the new owner is proposing to develop the property with four buildings with a combined total of 28 single-storey row dwelling units.
According to a staff report, the applicant intends for the development to complement accommodations provided at their neighbouring facility, Castle Peak Retirement Home, which they also acquired in 2022.
The subject lands are 2 acres in area, with approximately 200 feet of frontage on Douglas Drive and approximately 440 feet on Clearbrook Trail.
The property is currently vacant but previously contained a detached dwelling, which was demolished in late 2019/early 2020.
