Assault
In the most recent session of Bracebridge virtual court, Caitlin Brooks, 25, pleaded guilty to assault.
The court heard on July 25, 2020, just after midnight police responded to an altercation at a Bracebridge residence.
When they arrived they found an injured male with cuts above both eyes, as well as blood on the counters inside.
Court heard that the two were friends and, although they are no longer friends, the victim had no desire to participate in criminal proceedings.
Although Brooks does have a criminal record she was given credit for pleading guilty and was sentenced to 12 months probation.
Impaired driving
Bradley Greenslande, 28, pled guilty to impaired driving in the most recent session of Huntsville virtual court.
Court heard that in February of 2021 in the early morning hours the Huntsville OPP observed a black pickup truck driving at a high rate of speed down Main Street. They followed the vehicle onto Highway 11 before pulling the driver over.
The driver appeared impaired and at the detachment he blew more than double the legal limit.
Both the Crown and defense lawyers agreed to a submission of a fine and 12 month driving prohibition but the Crown said he should also serve an extra 12 months probation because his alcohol readings were so far over the limit.
The driver apologized for his actions and in the end he was sentenced to a $2,000 fine, and a one-year driving prohibition but no probation.
