Exceeding the legal limit
Erratic driving recently landed a Muskoka motorist in hot water.
On Tuesday, Merghani Zulkefl, 27, pleaded guilty to having a blood/drug concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Court heard that on May 26, 2021, OPP were patrolling Highway 11 in Bracebridge when they spotted an Audi driving erratically. They followed the car as it swerved between lanes and onto the shoulder, while only travelling 77 km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr zone.
The police smelled marijuana when they pulled Zulkefl over, and he later tested over the limit for THC content.
He was fined $1,000 and banned from driving with any drugs in his system for 12 months.
Breaching conditions
Also on Tuesday in Bracebridge court, Blake Huntington, 38, pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of his release.
Court heard that in May of 2020 Huntington was convicted on a range of offences including possession of a controlled substance and sentenced to six months in prison.
After he was released, the court heard that Huntington failed to report to his probation officer.
He was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
