A summary of hospitalizations and deaths for the two weeks ending April 12

Hospitalizations:

  • Total: 22 as of April 12, including three in ICU (all in Simcoe County)
  • Gender: 11 male, 11 female
  • Age range: 40s-90s
  • Origin: 20 are sporadic cases, two are associated with outbreaks
  • Vaccination status: 14 per cent unvaccinated, 41 per cent have two doses, 45 per cent have three doses

Deaths:

  • Total: nine (one in Muskoka, eight in Simcoe County)
  • Gender: five male, four female
  • Age range: 50s-90s
  • Vaccination status: two unvaccinated, three with two doses, four with three doses
  • Weekly average: five per week since February 27

The percentage of completed COVID-19 tests that are positive for the COVID-19 virus during the specified period.

Muskoka: 13.0 per cent

Simcoe County: 20.5 per cent

Hospitalizations and deaths by immunization status for Simcoe Muskoka

For this period, the rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations among the unvaccinated population aged 12 and older is three times higher, the rate of ICU admissions is five times higher, and the rate of deaths is three times higher compared with those with two or more doses of vaccine.

  • Second dose: 52,005 (84.8 per cent)

*SMDHU does not currently include 5 to 11 year-olds in its overall counts for the region. To date, 48 per cent of this age group in Muskoka have received a first dose, and 33 per cent have received a second dose.
