Driver convicted of over 80 at Gravenhurst prison

A visitor to Beaver Creek Institution recently found himself in hot water, a Bracebridge court heard last week.

Last Tuesday, Kenneth Henderson, 65, pleaded guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.

Court heard that on Nov. 5, 2021, Henderson arrived at Beaver Creek at roughly 1:35 pm but was not allowed in the facility because staff believed he was impaired. They then contacted police because he had driven to the prison.

Henderson told police he had stopped drinking earlier in the day, but he ultimately blew over the legal limit.

Court heard it was not Henderson’s first conviction related to drinking and driving.

He was fined $1,500 and banned from driving for one year.
