A Bala man who drove into a ditch with more than double the legal limit of alcohol in his system was handed a hefty fine in Bracebridge court recently.
Cole Walker, 31, pled guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.
Court heard that on Friday, February 7, 2025, just after 10:00 pm., police responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Muskoka Road 169 near Burgess Street in Bala. A member of the public had stopped to assist and called police when they became concerned about the driver’s condition.
When the OPP arrived, they suspected the driver, Walker, was impaired and found a 40 oz bottle of vodka between the two front seats.
Readings came back with 210 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.
He was fined $3,000 and given a one-year driving ban.
