Driving on pedestrian walkway leads to impaired conviction

A Muskoka driver’s poor driving led to an impaired conviction in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.

Aaron Conaghan, 26, of Huntsville, pleaded guilty to driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system

According to a police report, on November 9, 2024, at 11:16 p.m., members of the Huntsville Detachment were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on Main Street when they observed a vehicle driving on a pedestrian walkway. The driver, Conaghan, was stopped and failed a Roadside Screening Device. 

He was taken for breath testing, which revealed readings of 155 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

He was fined $1,500 and given a one-year driving ban.
