Eighty-two-year-old man loses everything in Christmas Day fire

The fire on Stoneleigh Road near Baysville on Christmas Day had a very sad ending for 82-year-old Alan Ruttan and his family.

Alan lived in the house with his wife Anita and when the house went up in flames the two managed to make it out with only the clothes they were wearing on their backs. But the snow was so deep that Anita had a hard time wading through it and ended up having a massive heart attack and died.

Alan Ruttan not only lost his home on Christmas Day but his wife of 37 years. He is staying with his daughter at the moment and his niece, Judy Vanclieaf, has started a GoFundMe campaign to help her elderly uncle get back on his feet.

“Uncle Allan is staying with his one daughter Vanessa, so he has a roof over his head for now. There will be other things he will need as he processes his situation and comes out of the shock over the next few months of losing his wife of 37 years and his home,” states Vanclieaf on the gofundme page which has been opened for him. “Anything you can contribute will be gratefully received. Thank you on behalf of my Uncle Allan Ruttan and his family.”
