You are here: Home / Events / Arowhon Pines 100-mile Challenge BBQ

This calendar is reserved for non-commercial local community events. What does that mean? Your event must be free or of nominal cost, available to anyone (although adult-only events are fine), and not for profit. (We do make exceptions for artists showing their work who would profit from any sales made and musicians hosting small-scale concerts). Not sure if your event fits? Drop us a line at matt.driscoll@doppleronline.ca to check, or go ahead and submit anyhow – submissions are moderated and we will approve yours if it fits our criteria. Thanks for helping make Muskoka a vibrant community!

Arowhon Pines inside Algonquin Park is holding its annual CIVIC HOLIDAY “100 Mile Challenge” Barbecue on the grounds on Sunday, August 5th, 2018.

Our chefs are challenged to create and execute a menu using food sourced within 100 miles.

This year’s menu will include Arowhon homemade sausages, peachy pulled pork shoulder, back ribs, lamb kibbe and lamb spareribs (always a favourite), trout, smoked whitefish cakes, flank steak, chicken marinated with yoghurt and mint, homemade dill pickles, chutneys, relishes and mustards, fresh produce too numerous to mention!  There is delicious food for vegetarians as well!  There are seasonal salads, meat and vegetarian entrees on the grill and homemade desserts and ice cream.

Local band THE FIDDLEHEADS will be back this year, along with some new artists, some local beer and boat rides of the lakes.  You can meet our local farmers and suppliers.

Arowhon’s monarch butterflies will be ready for tagging too!

Hope to see you there!  A few tickets still left!   $35/person
