BOOK LAUNCH: Bracing for Impact – A Debut Fictional Novel Inspired by Actual Events

Former Ontario correctional officer and author JC Kors launches her debut novel, a raw and gripping debut novel. Bracing for Impact, is a powerful story of resilience, survival, and one woman’s fight to prove she belongs in the toughest place imaginable: an all-male maximum-security prison. Drawing from her extensive three-decade career in Canada’s prison system, JC provides readers with a rare insight behind the walls, merging emotional truth with dynamic storytelling. At the core of the novel is Revena Miller, a divorced housewife resolutely aiming to rebuild her life by entering one of society’s most perilous professions.
This story offers an unfiltered and deeply human look at what it means to be a woman breaking barriers in a brutal, male-dominated world. Bracing for Impact is more than just a prison story. It’s about transformation, courage and the ethical tightrope walked by those on the front lines, says the author. “I wrote Bracing for Impact to shine a light on the often-overlooked correctional officers who stand between chaos and control. Through this story, I hope to give voice to their reality. Prison changes everyone—especially those who carry the keys.
Bracing for Impact is currently available on Amazon and Kindle. For interviews, media appearances, or book club inquiries, please contact [[email protected]].
A Book Launch will be held on June 22, 2025 from 1-4 pm at Sawdust City Brewing Company, 397 Muskoka Road N, Gravenhurst, ON
