This calendar is reserved for non-commercial local community events. What does that mean? Your event must be free or of nominal cost, available to anyone (although adult-only events are fine), and not for profit. (We do make exceptions for artists showing their work who would profit from any sales made and musicians hosting small-scale concerts). Not sure if your event fits? Drop us a line at [email protected] to check, or go ahead and submit anyhow – submissions are moderated and we will approve yours if it fits our criteria. Thanks for helping make Muskoka a vibrant community!

Toronto’s Chandler Levack’s feature debut film I Like Movies is a smart, funny, touching, and empathetic look at a film- and self-obsessed teenaged curmudgeon pursuing his dreams and living in the wilds of early-2000s Burlington, Ontario. He’s the kind of guy who, when he buys a movie ticket, mentions the director’s name just to show that he’s there for the right reasons. He dreams of attending New York University. As infuriating as Lawrence can be, the film sticks with him as he bounces from one small but impactful disaster to the next. We find ourselves rooting for him — not to realize his fantasies, but to engage with his reality.
