This calendar is reserved for non-commercial local community events. What does that mean? Your event must be free or of nominal cost, available to anyone (although adult-only events are fine), and not for profit. (We do make exceptions for artists showing their work who would profit from any sales made and musicians hosting small-scale concerts). Not sure if your event fits? Drop us a line at [email protected] to check, or go ahead and submit anyhow – submissions are moderated and we will approve yours if it fits our criteria. Thanks for helping make Muskoka a vibrant community!
How to Get That Grant with Award-Winning Author, Heather O’Connor
Join Muskoka Authors Association on Thursday, June 8 to hear award-winning author Heather O’Connor talk about how to get writing grants. Her tips and techniques are drawn from her own experience as both applicant and adjudicator and from candid conversations with granting organizations.

It also received an Ontario Arts Council Writer’s Reserve grant. So did her dual-language picture book Runs with the Stars. In fact, Heather has successfully applied for more than $35,000 in grants to support her literary career. Last year, she got an inside peek at the selection process as an adjudicator for the OAC Literary Creation grant.
