SUMMARY:New Exhibition “Gateways” Opens at MAC on Main Gallery in Bracebridge
DESCRIPTION:A powerful dual showcase of contemporary figurative and abstract works by Amanda Greavette and Kati Bujna \nBracebridge\, ON – MAC on Main Gallery\, located in the heart of Muskoka’s thriving arts scene\, is proud to present Gateways\, a new joint exhibition featuring the work of two Muskoka Arts & Crafts members and independent artists: Amanda Greavette and Kati Bujna. \nOpening Reception: Thursday\, May 29\, 2025 | 5:00–7:00 PM \nExhibition Dates: May 30 – June 15\, 2025 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily \nThis compelling exhibition brings together two distinct and complementary voices in contemporary art. Amanda Greavette’s Rebirth collection presents intimate figurative works that honour the experiences of mid-life women\, exploring themes of identity\, aging\, sensuality\, and transformation. Her paintings celebrate the evolving female form with depth and vulnerability. \nIn harmonic contrast\, Kati Bujna’s Water Reflections collection features large-scale\, abstract landscapes inspired by the rhythms of nature and the reflective qualities of water. Using vibrant\, layered and dynamic techniques\, Bujna captures fleeting moments of moving water—bringing meditative movement to multi-storey walls and open-concept interiors. \nTogether\, their work invites viewers through a series of gateways—into water’s abstracted beauty and the shifting tides of womanhood and time.

SUMMARY:Muskoka Concert Band's Spring Performance "Picture This!"
DESCRIPTION:This spring we will be performing a special program titled “Picture This! – Music that tells us stories” at two great concerts in Muskoka. On Saturday\, April 25th at 2:00 pm we will be performing our one-hour free spring concert sponsored by the Bracebridge Library (your donations\, as always\, are gratefully accepted) and on Sunday\, April 26th at 2:00 pm we will do a full program at Trinity United Church in Huntsville (admission $20 at the door\, children 12 and under free.) \n“Picture This!” is a program of music that tells us stories of different places\, times and people. You will hear the story of the Lewis and Clark exploration of the Louisiana Territory depicted in Philip Sparke’s exciting work\, The Pioneers\, a quick visit to the Big Top with From Tropic to Tropic\, the gorgeous depiction of cottage life through Canadian composer Vern Kennedy’s Chandler Point Suite\, and even a vision of a Renaissance soiree with Madrigalum. \nNo MCB program would be complete without some traditional music that holds stories for many of us and Canadian Danny Wilks’ rich version of Danny Boy fits that bill with just a bit of a jazz chord twist. For the music theater lovers\, we have some of the music of the stories we love to watch with Broadway Showstoppers Overture and A Chorus Line. And to punctuate the stories of Muskoka’s own history we thought you’d enjoy some big band music in the form of Count Basie Salute.

SUMMARY:Muskoka Authors Association presents: FADE IN: The Art of Screenwriting (and the Bitterness of Writing One) A Screenwriting Workshop with Geordie Sabbagh
DESCRIPTION:What does it really take to turn a story into a screenplay—and survive the process with your creative soul intact? \nMuskoka Authors Association is thrilled to welcome filmmaker and screenwriter Geordie Sabbagh for an engaging\, candid\, and darkly funny workshop on the art\, craft\, and emotional reality of screenwriting on Saturday\, January 31\, Bracebridge Public Library\, 34 Salmon Road\, Bracebridge\, 9:30 am – 1:00 pm. \n FADE IN: The Art of Screenwriting (and the Bitterness of Writing One) pulls back the curtain on one of the most alluring—and misunderstood—forms of storytelling. Blending iconic industry wisdom with hard-earned personal insight\, this workshop explores what it truly means to write for the screen\, where creative passion meets brutal odds\, endless rewrites\, and the relentless pursuit of story clarity. \nEqual parts reality check and love letter\, this session is designed for novelists\, short-story writers\, memoirists\, and aspiring screenwriters who are curious about adapting their work—or starting fresh—for film and television. \nAnd yes… if you’ve ever secretly wondered whether your story could be the next Oscar-worthy masterpiece\, this might just be your first step. \nGeordie Sabbagh is a filmmaker and screenwriter known for his sharp storytelling\, candid perspective\, and deep respect for the creative process. With a career that spans writing\, filmmaking\, and performance\, Geordie brings a rare blend of industry knowledge\, humour\, and hard truth to his work with writers. \nDescribed (only half-jokingly) as “just four awards away from an EGOT\,” Geordie understands both the allure and the absurdity of creative ambition—and shares insights that are as practical as they are entertaining. \nEvent Details: \nLocation: Bracebridge Public Library\, 34 Salmon Ave.\, Bracebridge \nTime: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm \nFee: MAA Members: $20\, Non-Members: $50 \nTo Register and for More Information: Please email your contact information and etransfer payment to info@muskokaauthors.ca
