Members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have determined the cause of a structure fire in Gravenhurst, where a woman lost her life.
On August 31, 2021, just after 2:30 a.m., officers, along with emergency services, responded to a structure fire at a multi-unit complex on First Street South in Gravenhurst. A 50-year-old female from Gravenhurst died as a result of the fire.
The Bracebridge Crime Unit investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and with assistance from the Office of the Fire Marshal, determined the cause of the fire to be accidental, originating in the front porch area.
