Flipped car leads to charges in Huntsville

On Tuesday a man pleaded guilty for his role in a car accident on Highway 11  in December of last year.

During a virtual session of Bracebridge Criminal Court, Vicenzo Giovenco, 41, pled guilty to taking a motor vehicle without consent.

Court heard that on December 30th, 2020 the Huntsville OPP were called to a crash on Highway 11 at about 10:30 p.m.  When they arrived the police found a Honda CRV flipped upside down in the centre median of the highway.

Giovenco was a passenger in the car at the time but he admitted that he had taken the car without consent. No one was injured in the crash.

Giovenco attended Court virtually from jail, as his lawyer explained that he is currently in custody awaiting unrelated charges in another part of the province.

Giovenco apologized to anyone affected by his behaviour, and he was granted a conditional discharge and 15 months probation.
