Football flinging criminal lands in Bracebridge court

A Hamilton man’s attempt to hurl drugs into Beaver Creek Institution hidden inside a football ended in an incompletion, a Bracebridge court heard this week.

On Tuesday Devon Frost, 21, appeared virtually and pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Court heard that the Bracebridge OPP were called by staff from Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst on Nov 22, 2021. Staff reported that at roughly 4 am they had discovered two footballs within the grounds of the prison packed with cannabis and cell phones.

Shortly after police arrived they spotted two men walking near the prison with a suitcase and backpack. More footballs were found inside the bags and Frost was discovered to have an ounce of shatter on his person.

He was ultimately sentenced to 18 months probation and a suspended sentence.
