The popular ‘Compost Giveaway’ returns to Gravenhurst on Earth Day, Friday April 22.
The free compost will be available for pick-up beginning at 10:00 AM at the Muskoka Wharf, 150 Steamship Bay Rd. (Municipal Parking Lot 22), until quantities last. Please bring your own shovels, buckets, and containers. No private contractors please.
This nutrient-rich compost is made in Muskoka – from leaf, yard waste and green bin organics.
The Town of Bracebridge will also have a free compost giveaway.
“Earth Day is an annual reminder of the importance of taking action to celebrate and protect our fragile earth, not only on April 22nd, but every day,” said Mayor Graydon Smith. “As we face environmental challenges, it will be communities that take a leading role in idea-sharing and problem-solving in driving the ecological transition.”
In celebration of Earth Day, the Town is participating in the Annual Compost Giveaway on Friday, April 22, 2022. FREE compost will be available to Bracebridge residents at Gostick Park, located at 51 Sellens Avenue, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The Town, along with the other local area municipalities, is also partnering with the District Municipality of Muskoka’s Clean Muskoka Together initiative. This year-round, Muskoka-wide community litter clean-up program provides volunteers with all the tools they need to help keep Muskoka beautiful such as gloves, recycling bags and specially marked garbage bags.
On July 7, 2021, Town Council declared a climate emergency and directed the development of a climate action plan that will guide Bracebridge in implementing future climate adaptation and mitigation measures so that our town will be well-positioned for a sustainable future.
