Friends seek financial support for family of murdered Bracebridge couple

Friends of a local family are reaching out to the community for support at a time of unimaginable loss.

On August 1, the Bracebridge OPP discovered the remains of three individuals in a home on Beatrice Lien that had been destroyed by fire.

It was later determined that two of the deceased – Paul Gray, 60 and Anita Gray, 59 had died of gunshot wounds. The third individual was later confirmed as Mitchell Gray, 29, who was wanted for murder and died of smoke inhalation.

Now, a GoFundMe account has been set up to help deal with the costs associated with the deaths and fire.

From fundraiser organizer Kayley Galarneau:

Our community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two beloved souls, Paul and Anita Gray, who were tragically taken from us far too soon. Paul and Anita were more than just a married couple — they were the warm, steady heart of a close-knit family, and friends to so many.

They leave behind their three loving daughters — Kateland, Megan, and Lindsay — who now face the unthinkable pain of losing both parents at once. As if that weren’t enough, the tragedy also claimed the Gray family home which Megan had been living in along with all her personal belongings, leaving Megan without anything and the girls without the place that had been their anchor and safe haven.

The Grays have long been a well-known and well-loved family in our community. Paul’s kindness, humor, and hard work touched everyone who knew him. Anita’s warmth, generosity, and ability to make anyone feel at home will be remembered forever. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and deep community ties.

We are coming together to support Kateland, Megan, and Lindsay in this most difficult chapter of their lives. Funds raised will go directly toward funeral expenses, immediate living costs, replacing what was lost in their home, and helping the girls find stability as they move forward without their parents’ guiding presence.

No amount can erase the pain of this loss, but your kindness — whether through a donation or simply sharing this page — will help carry them through these dark days.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for keeping the Gray family in your thoughts, prayers, and actions.

Please give if you can, and share widely.
