Going 50 km over the limit leads to impaired charges

A driver who was pulled over doing nearly twice the speed limit in Bracebridge was also found to have more than twice the limit of alcohol in his system.

Appearing recently in a Bracebridge courtroom, David Farris, 35, of London pled guilty to impaired driving.

Court heard that on May 12, 2022, police were conducting mobile radar speed enforcement on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge. Police clocked a vehicle doing 118 km in the posted 60 km/hr zone and the driver, Farris, was pulled over.

Police suspected Farris was under the influence and tests showed readings of 214 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg.

Court heard Farris has a previous conviction for impaired driving. He was sentenced to a $3,000 fine, a two-year driving ban and two years of probation.
