As the boating season draws to a close, the Town of Gravenhurst has announced the scheduled removal of all municipal floating docks, alongside temporary boat launch closures at the Muskoka Wharf to accommodate planned capital improvements.
Town staff will begin dismantling floating docks at several municipal boat launches to help preserve the longevity of these seasonal assets. The docks set for removal are located at:
- Riley Lake Landing (1178 Riley Lake Rd.)
- Franklin Park Launch (1615 Kilworthy Rd.)
- North Morrison Lake Landing (1179 N. Morrison Lake Rd.)
- North Kahshe Lake Landing (1290 N. Kahshe Lake Rd.)
- Moody Drive Gull Lake Launch (310 Moody Dr.)
- Lorne Street Beach (615 Lorne St.)
Officials are encouraging residents and visitors to take note of the removal dates and make any necessary arrangements for watercraft retrieval ahead of time.
In addition to dock removal, the Town will implement a phased closure plan for boat launches at Muskoka Wharf, allowing for infrastructure upgrades. The closures are scheduled as follows:
- Phase 1 (Oct. 16–17): The municipal launch adjacent to 201 Wharf Rd. will be closed. East and west launches remain open.
- Phase 2 (Oct. 20–21): The east launch will be closed. The 201 Wharf Rd. and west launches will remain open.
- Phase 3 (Oct. 22–23): The west launch will be closed. The 201 Wharf Rd. and east launches remain open.
- Phase 4 (Oct. 27–29): The launch at 201 Wharf Rd. will close again, with the east and west launches open.
“These seasonal operations are essential for asset protection and ensure the ongoing safety and functionality of our waterfront infrastructure,” said a Town spokesperson. “We thank residents and visitors for their cooperation and hope everyone enjoyed the extended boating season.”
The Town encourages the public to follow ongoing updates via the Town of Gravenhurst website and official social media channels.
