Gravenhurst driver stuck in a snowbank was triple the limit

A Gravenhurst woman recently faced legal repercussions after getting stuck in a snowbank, as reported during a court session at Bracebridge. Karissa Smith, 27, pleaded guilty to driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

According to court details disclosed on February 23, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers from the Huntsville OPP responded to a report of a vehicle lodged in a snowbank on Main Street East in Huntsville. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Smith requesting assistance to be pulled out of the snowbank.

Suspicion regarding Smith’s impairment quickly arose, leading to a breathalyzer test that yielded a reading of 243 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood—three times the legal limit.

Smith was fined $2,500 and received a driving ban of one year, along with a year of probation.
