During the latest Gravenhurst council meeting Greta Duggan was unanimously selected as the recipient of the Student of the Year bursary for Gravenhurst High School.

“She is quite an artist,”  Mayor Kelly said at last month’s council meeting. Kelly said this year they changed some of the criteria for the award, which now includes writing an essay.

“She did an amazing job of the essay and she is a great artist. If you go over to the high school, you can see some of the work she has done. She was also involved with the Remembrance Day pins and the Ukraine pins. She is going on to hopefully become an artist or architect. We were very impressed with her application.

Duggan could not attend the council meeting, however she expressed her appreciation for the award.

Kelly said they also increased the bursary to $2000 in light of rising costs due to inflation and that it has “gone to a well-deserving student.”
