The Huntsville U13 Sting got to participate in a charity event where they got to play a 5-minute period against Leafs Alumni in ‘Hockey Day in Muskoka’ on September 10, 2022 hosted by the Gravenhurst Hockey Academy helping to raise funds for local minor hockey associations along with the Movember Foundation. The Sting were able to tie the game 1-1 by the end buzzer.
Steve Mann, the U13 Coach and part of the Huntsville Girls Hockey Association Executive Board said, “Being given the opportunity to represent Huntsville Girls-Sting Minor Hockey playing against a first-class organization in the Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni, was obviously a once-in-a-lifetime offer as a coach & player parent! Helping to raise funds for local minor hockey associations along with the Movember Foundation was icing on the cake! In experiencing the event it was hard to determine whose smiles were the largest; both sets of players, parents, spectators, along with our bench staff! Overall just a fantastic time creating lifelong memories for all involved”.
Lilly Corbett – Player 2021/22 U13 Division added, “It was so fun! It was an awesome experience because I loved getting the Leafs Alumni, Movember players and the Muskoka Shield players autographs. It was really fun to skate with them. I never thought I would ever have the chance to do that.”
