Gravenhurst Home Hardware has been awarded Best Home Hardware – Central Region at the Home Hardware Proud of My Home Achievement Awards and Celebration. The awards were handed out at Home Hardware’s 2021 Virtual Fall Market on September 27, 2021.
“We are deeply honoured to be acknowledged with the Proud of My Home Achievement Award for Best Home Hardware – Central Region,” said Ian McNaughton, Dealer-Owner, Gravenhurst Home Hardware. “We owe this award to our staff and our community, as they are woven into the fabric of who we are. Home Hardware’s founder, Walter Hachborn, said it best — ‘we are not in the hardware business; we are in the people business!’”
Gravenhurst Home Hardware is one of a select few stores to receive a 2020 Proud of My Home Achievement Award. Recipients must demonstrate excellence in staff performance and customer service; interior presentation, including clear signage, tidiness, and merchandise presentation and displays; exterior presentation, including cleanliness and attractive window displays; staff training; and participation in dealer network initiatives.
The store started as Young’s Hardware in 1882 and joined the Home Hardware banner in 1980. Ian and Tara have been serving the community as the Dealer-Owners of Gravenhurst Home Hardware since 2011. Just last year, they moved the store back to the downtown core of town, on the same street it started at over a century ago. Ian and Tara have enjoyed serving the community with the same quality of products and service they are used to, from this newly renovated two-level location.
“The Proud of My Home Achievement Award recognizes Ian and Tara’s commitment and dedication to putting their community first,” said Kevin Macnab, President and CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited. “On behalf of the Dealer-Owners of close to 1,100 Home Hardware stores in communities across Canada, I would like to congratulate them and their staff on this achievement.”
