The Town of Gravenhurst has announced the reopening of several outdoor spaces that were closed following the recent ice storm. They have also announced that reduced-load restrictions will be lifted May 12.
We are pleased to inform the public that the following locations are now available for use as of Friday, May 9, 2025:
- Staff Sergeant Larry Bigley K9 Park
- Lorne Street Beach
- Ungerman Gateway Park
- Barkway Cemetery
- Barkway Pioneer Cemetery
- Gull Lake Rotary Park (excluding Tennis Courts and Third Street Access Point)
For further details on additional locations that have already reopened, please check our website.
Please note that some parks, trails, and cemeteries remain closed at this time while assessments and clean-up efforts are underway by our team and contractors.
In addition, the Town of Gravenhurst implements reduced-load restrictions on most roadways during the annual spring thaw period. These restrictions will be lifted effective Monday, May 12, at 12:01 a.m.
Truck operators are reminded that seasonal load restrictions are in place to protect the integrity of the roads from damage caused by heavy vehicle traffic, which is crucial for maintaining road longevity.
Until the restrictions are lifted, truck operators passing through the Town of Gravenhurst are required by law to utilize only designated truck routes. This requirement also applies to designated District of Muskoka roads and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) highways.
For more information on current reduced-load restrictions in the Town of Gravenhurst, please visit our website at www.gravenhurst.ca/loads.
