Gravenhurst residents will vote by phone and internet in next election

Gravenhurst council has voted to stick with the current method of casting votes by phone and internet for municipal elections.

During their latest council meeting, staff offered thie report on the upcoming 2026 municipal elections.

Gravenhurst residents voted by the same method in the 2018 and 2022 elections and staff indicated it appears to be working well.

“The traditional ballot system (vote in-person only on election day or advance polls) does not meet the needs of the community,” said Kayla Thibeault, Director of Legislative Services in her report.

Thibeault said voting by phone and internet has proved successful, in part, because Gravenhurst has many voters who do not live in the municipality.

The next municipal election is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026.
