Gravenhurst Seniors Centre hosts Belonging Without Barriers

Belonging Without Barriers, an accessibility-focused expo, will take place at the Gravenhurst Seniors Centre, 480 First St. N., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 7.

Hosted by the Town of Gravenhurst’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC), the free community event will feature various exhibits, hands-on learning, and an array of guest speakers.

“We’re excited to host our first-ever accessibility event,” said AAC Chair Barbara McNeice-Stallard. “People living with disabilities face barriers every day. This event will bring together local agencies that offer guidance, products and support to our community.”

Topics covered will include vision loss, pregnancy and family support, mobility services, addiction and mental health, learning services, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, assistive technologies, accessible infrastructure, and independent living.

A light lunch will be served at the event.
