Members of Gravenhurst council received the Musquash Road Drainage Improvements Tender Report and approved awarding the contract to HLD Muskoka, the lowest compliant bidder, at a tendered cost of $3,782,615.15, excluding HST.
The Musquash Road Drainage Improvements project represents the largest single investment in municipal capital infrastructure since the construction of the Centennial Centre. The project is intended to address drainage issues in the area, where residents have reported flooding during periods of heavy rain and seasonal runoff.
Once completed, the system will provide a stormwater management solution designed to handle changing weather conditions. Municipal staff say the improvements are expected to reduce the risk of flooding and protect homes, properties, and infrastructure in the surrounding residential area.
The scope of work includes upgrades to stormwater infrastructure along Musquash Road. The project is scheduled over a two-year construction period.
Construction will be completed in two phases. Part A is scheduled for completion by Oct. 30, 2026, with Part B scheduled for completion by Oct. 29, 2027.
Town officials say the investment is part of ongoing infrastructure planning and climate adaptation efforts.
