Athletes from across the region will converge on Muskoka Wharf this weekend as the 2026 Gravenhurst Triathlon and Duathlon takes place on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.
The event, part of the MultiSport Canada Triathlon Series, runs daily from 6 a.m. to noon and is expected to bring increased traffic to the area. Motorists are asked to watch for participants and exercise caution around cyclists and runners.
Hosted at the Muskoka Wharf Sports Fields, the event is known for its unique start, with competitors making a jump from one of the area’s iconic Muskoka steamships into Lake Muskoka.
The swim course features long straight sections with the sun at athletes’ backs. Organizers recommend wetsuits, as water temperatures are expected to range between 19 C and 21 C.
The bike course follows Muskoka Road 169 on an out-and-back route featuring long, steady grades and paved shoulders. As the route remains open to traffic, participants are reminded to follow safe riding practices.
Runners will travel through the Muskoka Wharf Sports Park and onto North Muldrew Lake Road, tackling a hilly course considered one of the more challenging in the series. Like the cycling portion, the run course uses shared roads, with participants running facing oncoming traffic.
