A Bracebridge man was called to account this week after a warrant turned up fentanyl in his home.
Earlier this week in Bracebridge court, James Gostick, 40, pled guilty to possession of fentanyl.
Court heard that on May 8, 2021, Bracebridge OPP were contacted after a gun was fired inside a home in the Cambrian Court area of Bracebridge.
When police arrived, Gostick was arrested and a warrant was issued the next day which resulted in the discovery of a number of illicit drugs, including 0.5 grams of purple fentanyl.
Gostick attended virtually and court heard that he’s currently facing other charges as well in another jurisdiction.
The Crown pointed out that Gostick has a long criminal record, and that Muskoka is currently in the midst of an opioid crisis.
Gostick told the court he understands how serious the crime is and said he is currently in the process of going through a methadone program to get himself cleaned up.
He was sentenced to 20 days served in pre-trial custody.
