From the Town of Gravenhurst:
During the annual spring thaw period, the Town of Gravenhurst places ‘half-load’ or ‘reduced/seasonal load’ restrictions on most roadways.
Effective Monday, May 6, at 12:01 a.m., half-load restrictions will be lifted.
Truck operators are reminded that the purpose of seasonal load restrictions is to protect the road and road base from damage caused by heavy vehicle wheel loads, with the goal of increasing the life cycle of municipal roadways.
Until May 6, when the half-load restrictions are lifted, truck operators travelling through the Town of Gravenhurst are legally obligated to only use permitted designated truck routes. This same requirement extends to designated District of Muskoka roads and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) highways.
For more information on current half-load restrictions in the Town of Gravenhurst, please visit our website at www.gravenhurst.ca/loads.
