Handgun brandished in Huntsville dispute

On Monday, February 9th, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers of the Huntsville OPP Detachment received a 911 weapons call at a residence on Main Street West, in the Town of Huntsville.

The investigation revealed that the accused attended the victim’s apartment, and a dispute happened between them. The accused allegedly brandished both a handgun and an iron bar. There were no injuries reported. The accused was taken into custody without incident. 

As a result of the investigation Robert IWANOW, 39 years old of Huntsville, is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon 
  • Assault with a Weapon    
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Pointing a Firearm 
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

The accused remains in custody and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice  on February 10, 2026.

The Huntsville OPP want to advise that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
