“Highly intoxicated” driver arrested near Torrance Barrens

A Barrie woman was in court recently to answer for impaired driving-related charges.

Appearing in a Bracebridge courtroom, Shannon Pren, 30, pleaded guilty to careless driving.

Court heard that on March 17, 2024, at 10 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver. The police found Pren in her vehicle on Southwood Road near Torrance Barrens in Muskoka Lakes Township.

Court heard Pren appeared “highly intoxicated”. Drugs were found in her system, but the type of drugs was not specified.

She was sentenced to a $1000 fine and 12 months’ probation, during which time she is not permitted to drive with any drugs in her system.
