With the holiday season fast approaching, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia and District (BBBSOD) has announced the return of its annual Holiday Hamper program, an initiative designed to support local families in need during the festive season.
“Each year, we have the privilege of connecting our community’s generosity with local families in need, helping make their holidays brighter with the gift of food, essentials, and holiday cheer,” the BBBSOD team said in a release.
“As of last year, we acquired the Muskoka Big Brothers Big Sisters agency, and we are hoping to work more closely in Muskoka to serve more youth,” says Emily van Kessel, Marketing and Communications Assistant.
Community members who sign up to sponsor a family will receive a personalized wishlist tailored to their selected household and budget. These lists often include items such as winter coats, shoes, toys, books, and traditional holiday foods like turkey and fresh produce.
“By offering programs such as Holiday Hampers, we can help our families create traditions, reduce financial pressures, and build a stronger sense of community during the holiday season,” said the agency’s Marketing Assistant.
Individuals interested in sponsoring a hamper or making a monetary donation are invited to complete the form available on the organization’s website or contact Emily van Kessel at [email protected] by November.
