A trip to his hospital quickly got out of hand and ended in criminal charges, a Bracebridge court heard earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Justin White, 31, pled guilty to damaging hospital property.
The court heard that on August 1, 2020, White and another man attended the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge to seek help for injuries he had sustained. Court heard that White appeared to be Intoxicated by alcohol and he became upset with the covid screening protocols at the Hospital. He decided to leave without getting treatment. A guard followed him outside and observed White break the parking arm outside in the parking lot.
The police were notified and White was taken into custody and brought back to the hospital. There he was diagnosed with fractures of the right orbit and nasal bone.
Following the incident, an SIU Investigation was launched on the arresting officers. The investigation determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that any officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the arrest and injuries.
White, who the court heard has a previous criminal record, said he was sorry for his actions and it wouldn’t happen again.
He was given a suspended sentence and 18 months probation.
